Add Twitter Vocabulary to Wikipedia

Published by at 11:22 am under Fun,Tech

I was watching a couple friends flirting on twitter today and started talking to Gabe about a good word for flirting on twitter. I came up with “twirting” and looked around to see of someone else had come up with it. I didn’t see it in a google search, so I went over to Wikipedia and looked up twitter, found no Vocabulary section, so I added it and added my word and a few others I’ve heard.

Go here to add others!

    So, I added these entries to the wikipedia page:

    == Twitter Vocabulary ==

    * Tweet – verb. to send a twitter message
    * Tweeps – noun. one’s twitter friends
    * Twirt – verb. to flirt on twitter

    and someone else (maybe Jerry) added this:

    * Chirp Storm- noun. popular twitter, tweeted about by many.

    Then I went back to see if anyone else had added, and my new section was gone. I looked at the history and User:Geni had reverted us:

    (diff) (hist) . . Twitter‎; 19:31 . . (-206) . . Geni (Talk | contribs) (→Twitter Vocabulary: rm section original reasearch and stuff made up in one afternoon http://www.declan.net/2008/03/21/add-twitter-vocabulary-to-wikipedia/)

    I must have violated some Wikipedia editing ethic?

    Robert notes that since I just made “twirting” up, that there are not enough references for it to be a valid entry.

    Interesting process. I could unrevert, but I don’t want to get into a war. On the other hand, I was hoping people would start adding stuff.

    Interesting follow up:

    I can see the point.
